Issue with View Layer Downloads on Open Data Hub

I'm building an open data hub and want to ensure that the public only accesses refined versions of our datasets. To achieve this, I've created view layers that limit which fields are visible and allow me to rename fields for clarity.

However, when I add a view layer to the site's catalogue and attempt to download it, the resulting file contains the full dataset from the original feature layer - not the filtered view layer.

Is there a way to ensure that downloads reflect the view layer's configuration? Or is there an alternative workflow that allows me to refine the downloadable content of a feature layer?

Would be interested to know if there was a solution for this. I am about to try the same thing and want to share only some of the fields of a layer on an open data site, and I was planning on trying to use a view layer.

Hi there! I also just came across this right now and we believe this to be a BUG.

I just added a new 'DateOnly' field to our dataset, and thought this was the issue, but I realized that this has been happening for a little while now without our knowledge.

This is not ideal, because we have been using this method to share data, and now we are not able to release this until we come up with a workaround.

There is a known limit in ArcGIS Hub where an owner of an item can see and download hidden fields (even from view layers) because they have access to that data on the service. However, anonymous users cannot see those fields, so there should not be a security risk. Please test downloading the data as an anonymous user.

Please also test with other authenticated users who are not owners of the content. They should see the same experience as anonymous users–they cannot see the hidden fields.
