Hi every one,

We just recently (as in today) started using ArcGIS mobile, i was able to build a small demo map and get it up and running on a GeoXH with no problems. My question is how do i port it over from my windows mobile device to a Android Device. I am assuming that i need the ArcGIS for Android App download and install on my device but i cant figure what is next.

Thanks

Hi Randall,

ArcGIS for Windows Mobile and ArcGIS for Android App are two separate mobile solutions offered by Esri along with ArcPad, ArcGIS for iOS App and ArcGIS for Windows Phone App. For more information, please review ArcGIS Resource Center topics on Esri Mobile Applications including ArcGIS for Windows Mobile and ArcGIS for Android App.

Cheers,
Denise

So then to build something for a android device i have to use the ArcGIS Runtime SDK for Android? or can i build it using ArcGIS Mobile and port it over to an android device.

Randall, yes you will need to create your ArcGIS for Android App using the ArcGIS Runtime SDK for Android. You can build both mobile projects (ArcGIS for Windows Mobile, ArcGIS for Android App) from the same map document and data, yet they are individual solutions for different mobile devices (Windows Mobile OS, Android OS).
