Post Updates Failed - how to save data that was captured

We have had two field crews whose "Post Updates" has failed.  The project only has one editable feature class / service.  I have tried to pull the project file off the problem laptops and use my own ArcGIS Mobile install to try and post their data with the same result.  So what I am left with is around 100 edits that I need to get into SDE....

Is there a suggested method to try and recover the data?

Thanks

Hi David,

You can recover those edits by using the MobileCacheTool which can extract selected features or features in a  specified status (original/added/deleted/modified/current) to a  shapefile.

Is your data versioned?

I'm curious if you could post the error when you have time.

Thanks Denise, I will give that a try today and post the result.

As for tesla007's question...no the data is not versioned.  And unfortunately when the "Post Updates Failed" error message was recieved by my users and myself, when you click to see details, it simply returns "Unknown Error".  I tried to look for a log from ArcGIS Mobile in Documents and Settings\my profile\etc. but did not see one.

I downloaded the tool from the link you provided, copied the .exe from the "Release" folder to my C:\Program Files\ArcGIS\Mobile10.0\bin folder as the Instructions suggest.  Everytime I try to run the tool I get a "No License available" message?? I have ArcGIS Mobile 10 installed and am currently running a local single use license of ArcEditor 10.

The application starts after I get the no license message and click OK to dismiss it; it seems to let me open a .db file, I select the layer and it chugs away (lots of features), it lets me select export modified features and then generates an error (attached).

Am I supposed to get the "no license available" message....and is that the problem?  I can still open the cache in ArcGIS Mobile and view the modified features so I don't think its corrupt, it just won't let me Post.

Where are the instructions you found for this tool?

The instructions were under the applications "Help" dropdown.  So I get the "no license available" error which I click ok to dismiss, then the application opens.  If I click help it provides install info and how to use the tool which I have attached as a txt file.

So I am working with ESRI Canada Support on this, the no license available popup is now gone and I can extract the files I need.  Turns out I was running a single use ArcEditor but the application was looking for an ArcView.  Bruce D from ESRI Canada Support tweaked the code and recompiled for me and I am now in business.

We are still troubleshooting the issue of why periodically the 10 field crews using one specific mobile project are suddenly unable to Post Updates.  Since my initial post we have run into this issue 4 more times and in most cases with different crews / laptops.  The only difference between this project and others where we have seen no issues is....these guys are Posting and then Getting data so they can see changes others in the area are making.

Something in the Get Data process must be messing them up.  On the Server I have noted the following error (attached).  Again I am working with ESRI Canada Support on this and will continue to Post to this thread.
