Hi there

I have a machine with ArcGIS 10.1 and Mobile 3.0.1 and everything works.

On another machine i have ArcGIS 10.1, SP1 and Mobile 3.0.1. and the Mobile tools in ArcMAp does not work. They fail in the background and creates an email to ESRI.

Anyone with this failure or where it works ??

Hi Henrik,

Do the Mobile Tools produce an error when you attempt to run them or simply not run? Do they only not run in ArcMap or does same behavior occur when you attempt to run from ArcCatalog? Can you obtain the latest release of ArcGIS for Windows Mobile 3.1 release from Esri Customer Care Portal or your local Esri International Distributor? I run ArcGIS for Windows Mobile 3.1 and ArcGIS for Desktop 10.1 SP1 and am able to run Create Mobile Cache and Synchronize Mobile Cache tools from ArcMap and ArcCatalog successfully. If you are still experiencing problems, I recommend you submit a support interaction with Esri Support or your International Distributor so you can work to further troubleshoot this challenge.

Cheers,
Denise

Hi there

I have done some more testing and:

I have installed the with RED marked SP1 on my PC.

1) If I disable the background processing, the Mobile GP tools works and it creates a cache.

2) If I run the tool with background processing i get following failure everytime.

So for me it looks like the Mobile tools can't be used as a 64bit background processing tool or ?

Is this with purpose or a bug ?

Hi Henrik,

Yes, this appears to be a bug with Mobile Tools after installing ArcGIS 10.1 SP1 Background Geoprocessing 64-bit patch and  enabling Background Processing. Possibly known limitation related to .NET Tools but hasn't been confirmed with any Esri Development Team but have logged Mobile Tools crash as NIM086796. In the meantime, the workaround is to disable Background Processing as you also discovered. Thank you for reporting this on the Forums, however I do encourage you to contact Esri Support or your Esri local International Distributor so you can be attached to NIM086796 in order to maintain an official count of all customers encountering this challenge.

Cheers,
Denise
