I have an .mxd that I want to use to create a Mobile Map cache.  It's data sources are all using direct connect to connect to an oracle geodatabase.  Is this supported or do I have to use an SDE connection when trying to run the Create Mobile Map tool?  When I select it for the Map Document in the Create Mobile Map dialog, the extent, the layers, and version sections aren't populated and then if I try to create the cache anyways, no files are created, but everything says it completed fine (no errors at all).

I also have some XY data displayed in my map.  Is that not supported?  Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Aubrey,

To use the GP Tool to create a ready-to-go mobile project package for use with ArcGIS Mobile applications, you data will need to be in one of the following formats:

  1. Shapefile (No Editing, Just Viewing)

  2. File Geodatabase w/ GlobalID's (Editing & Viewing)

  3. SDE Geodatabase w/ GlobalID's (Editing & Viewing)

Thanks for the information, Martin.  I've also realized that my XY Event layers seem to be causing some of the problems.  Is there any way to create a Mobile cache with event layers?  If not, is there any kind of work around to display information in a regular table in an mxd and then create a cache for it?  Thanks again.
