ArcGIS windows mobile - AGOL synchronizing one way only

I have successfully managed to create an ArcGIS for windows mobile (10.1.1.0) project that includes a feature service from ArcGIS Online (AGOL).

When I synchronise edits, the features created on the mobile device are updated in AGOL, but any edits made in AGOL are not included on the mobile device. Except (this is the odd bit) where a feature was originally created on the mobile device, for example, if a feature created on the mobile device is deleted on AGOL, then sync'd, the feature will no longer be there on the mobile device either.

I hope that makes sense.

Any ideas???

Your example is a bit confusing.

Here's how my application works and yes I did code everything. I do not use AGOL, instead my data is synchronized to my GIS Servers.
1. Tablet in the field collects a point.
2. Point is instantly synchronized to the server.
3. Server sends acknowledgement.
Note: This is an upload only synchronization, I can change the synchronization setting to allow points that were edited in ArcMap on the server to asynchronization.

If another tablet in the field collects a point and synchronizes it to the server both tablets won't see each others' point. But the server will see both points. This is purposely done in my code using the upload only object.

I used to allow asynchronization, meaning both tablets will see each others' points, but this caused a lot of lag when the number of features in the featureclass goes over 1000.

You can manually click on synchronization in your application and hopefully you will see the changes you want.

Thanks Akhil

It sounds as though we are doing the same thing, except I have the upload/download ticked as I want all devices to see all data.

This is my problem.

It tells me that it is downloading successfully but the downloads do not appear.

Strange.

Cheers

Ok lets assume it is synchronizing.

Did you refresh the page?
Try zooming around?

Can you check the featureclass/featuredataset to see the new records?
Can you check anything else other than ArcGIS Mobile for the new records?

Have your tried using another computer that is using the same service in ArcGIS Mobile to download the data.
For example Computer 1 creates a point. It syncs to AGOL, but you don't see it in AGOL. Use Computer 2 to sync and download the single point, do you see the point on the Computer 2?

Hope this helps.

Thanks Akhil

Yes I tried zooming and refreshing.

And yes tried on two computers. This is the strange thing...

Edits made on computer 1 - I can view on computer 1 and AGOL

Edits made on computer 2 - I can view on computer 2 and AGOL

But on computer 1  I cannot view edits made on computer 2 and vice versa.

still scratching my head...

Your problem can be due to versioning?

I personally do not Register as Versioned for my feature classes/feature datasets.
All I did was set Global IDs. Which I know you did.

Are you able to look at the featureclass and see what's going on?

Hope this sheds some light.

Hi Stuart

I am also experiencing the same. Were you able to find a solution / work around?

Cheers

Thanks again Akhil , but no not registered as versioned... and yes global IDs added.

Hi David

No sorry,  no solution as yet, I'm thinking I'll log a helpdesk request. I will post the fix if/when I receive one.

I'm glad it's not just me, I thought I may have been going a bit mad 🙂

Good luck
