Aerials in the mobile application

I have a rather large aerial. Sid image. I am wanting to bring the aerial into the mobile app as a background. Getting an error of image too large. Is there any way to do this and what are the steps. I know I need to create a cache. In earlier versions an ECW came in with no problem, when creating the mobile cache.

What version of Desktop and ArcGIS for Win Mobile are you using?  Do you have ArcGIS Server, or are you just using Desktop?  You could also create a Tile Package to use as a basemap.
