Linking Cognos reports to point features?

I have published a map service of store locations (points) which I now wish to symbolise using sales data stored in Cognos based on a common store ID. What type of layer do I use in EM4C? If I use a Cognos XY layer, it seems I must have x and y coords stored in Cognos - which I don't! If I use a Cognos Shape Layer, it seems I must use a polygon feature type,  because point layers are not available as a map service layer in the Join Behaviour dialog.

So how can I link a cognos report to point features from my GIS?

Hello,

Esri Maps for IBM Cognos 4.3.2 does not support the joining of Cognos data to point features in a map service.  Currently, the software only supports symbolizing points that have x,y coordinates stored in Cognos.

This limitation is a known issue in Esri Maps for IBM Cognos 4.3.2, and is being looked at for the next release of the software.
