I am wondering the same thing, can someone please comment on this?
Well for the way that your doing it I would almost create a new field that would contain the URL, I don't know the web part that your looking at so I can't say much there but if the Shapefile has its attributes shared via a List than you should be able to access that in a Web Part
Beginning with Esri Maps for SharePoint 3.0, we're moving away from the Silverlight-based ArcGIS Map Web Part and focusing on the JavaScript-based Esri Maps Web Part. The Esri Maps Web Part now supports hyperlinks in pop-ups. Please let me know if you have additional questions on this.

Hi Katy - Ok, so let's say I used one of the default webapp templates for arcgisonline and uploaded the "app" to my arcgisonline account (so it's "ESRI hosted" vs. being on our own servers) - could I insert functioning hyperlinks into the popups in this scenario? Specifically I would like to point them to SharePoint file locations so a client could click on one of their reports and view - is that possible? Or do I have to load all of these pdfs to the cloud as documents?
Thanks!
Hi Michael,
So in your scenario, you're talking about doing everything from the ArcGIS Online side of things. At that point, any SharePoint file location is simply a hyperlink, and as long as your clients have permissions to view those pages in SharePoint, they'll open up the same as any other web link.
The origins of this particular thread date back to when our Esri Maps for SharePoint (formerly ArcGIS for SharePoint) product did not support hyperlinks in pop-ups.
Hope that helps,
Katy
Ah - that explains it, some of what I was reading in various threads etc. must be referring to those earlier times/pop-ups - thanks for the info! That's exactly what I needed to know.
