Issues with opening .DBF extensions in Excel 2016 .
Recently upgraded all machines with Win 10 build 1905 and office 2016 64 bit
now finding that Esri users can no longer open these .dbf files unless they use a work around
by opening excel first then browse for the file using the all files filter.
I had this working by adding the extension and the association in win 7 64 bit and office 2016 with a registry hack.
this no longer works with win 10 / office 2016 64 bit.
why is this extension required for something that is basically a source file for >. shp files
couldn't this requirement be created with a standard extension (XML /XMLS Etc) that is compatible with current OS and Office software?
having to a create the extension then add the association as in the past now only to find this no longer works either.
creates down time for users and hands of a resolvable issue and further workload to IT support.
