Normally I would tell the user this is because you tried to edit a feature and you aren't allowed, but this is a little stranger than that. We have users using fields maps to collect data and they only collect new data. Editing features are entirely disabled. So it was really strange when people starting coming to me saying they are getting this error saying they don't have permission to edit and existing feature when trying to sync an offline area in Field Maps.

- (fid: 15346): Service error code 1019: No permission to edit the specified feature. (plus several dozen duplicate errors in the sync log)

As mentioned, editing existing features is disabled in the app. Plus, the feature with FID 15346 was created by a different user several months ago and since filtering by created user is enable they shouldn't even see this feature. Yet this error is appearing on a NEWLY created feature in an offline map that was set up only a couple days ago. It's almost like Field Maps assigned an FID on its own that was already taken.

Hi @JasonJordanCV

Could you check if anything has changed recently such as:

  • Has the webmap been changed recently (add a layer, remove a layer, change symbology, etc)?
  • Have the editing settings been changed for any of the layers?
  • Can you verify that both sync and editing are enabled across the board?
  • Can you verify if editing is possible in Map Viewer?

This discussion outlines more areas for troubleshooting similar errors: https://community.esri.com/t5/arcgis-field-maps-blog/arcgis-field-maps-offline-edits-fail-to-sync-le...

No changes have been made to the webmap. No settings have been changed. Sync and editing are enabled yes. Editing is enabled in the web map but we only share it out in Field Maps. The map has been working fine for nearly a year but random problems like this are becoming more commonplace.

Unfortunately I ended up having to drive 6 hours to the location and manually pull the data off their phone, which is becoming far too common of an occurance. Just this morning I am being informed of a 'Unable to sync due to the supplied JSON cannot be parsed' error message.

I'm sorry this is giving you so much trouble. Please reach out to Tech Support for help troubleshooting if you are still experiencing this issue or run into it again in the future. If you can share a map or layers it can really help us to see what's going on.
