Default templates across different maps

I have a utilities layer where there may be different maps for different teams to collect utility information. Is the Templates tab where you set default values meant to be the same across all maps for the same layer? For example, if I have a Lights map, I want to set the default of Light to "Yes", but I'm noticing this applies to the general utilities map as well. This can make it difficult to tailor field maps and streamline editing.

Have you tried using Hosted Feature Layer Views to manage your templates?

I believe you can change the templates for a View layer. You may be saving the templates back to the layer source if you are using the same 'layer' across maps.
