In the Map Details, I've checked the Behavior box to "start in presentation mode when opened by others" (see attached graphic) but it seems not to be working. I've had a couple of people test it and the map opens for them in the ordinary Mapping mode. Am I doing something wrong? The map is public and is called Los Angeles River Park Suitability 2 if anyone else wants to try it. Thanks,

Hi Mike, not sure exactly what method you're describing. The guys I asked to try it were going to arcgis.com & typing keyword "los angeles river" to get a list of search results.
1) From Search Results page: a) clicking the thumbnail graphic opens the map NOT in presentation mode b) clicking the Open link opens the map NOT in presentation mode c) clicking the More Options dropdown arrow gives Open Presentation as the first choice
2) From Item Details page: a) clicking the thumbnail graphic opens the map NOT in presentation mode b) clicking the Open button gives Open Presentation as the first choice.
Could be I don't understand the intended behavior, but it seems like this is a lot of ways for the map not to open in presentation mode!

Hi, I was doing the search from within Explorer Online and not from ArcGIS.com. I can repro the issue now. Logically when you've specified this setting for a map, I'd expect the map to open in presentation mode in all clients by default, not just Explorer Online. I'll pass this onto the team who work on the ArcGIS.com site and see what they say.
thanks - yes, exactly, the wording "start in presentation mode when opened by others" is unqualified. Ideally, the behavior would work for all clients, but if it's not going to, at least the user shouldn't be led to expect it.
