Map service not displaying

Hopefully I can get some insight from someone with ESRI....I'm trying to add a map service in Explorer Online and it doesn't want to display or even get added to the map at all.  Our ArcGIS Server admin doesn't know what about the service would cause it not to work.  The layer from the service is http://maps.co.palm-beach.fl.us/ArcGIS/rest/services/ags1/MapServer/5  

I can add the service in ArcGIS Online, but if I try to change the symbols based on a field/attribute, it just hangs there.  The layer is from this service http://maps.co.palm-beach.fl.us/ArcGIS/rest/services/ags1/MapServer and I was trying to use Explorer's "Create Feature Layer" feature but that's just not working.

I was hoping someone can check the service and maybe see what's going on that preventing me from adding it to an Explorer map.

I was not able to add your specific service sublayer, but was able to add the whole service from here:
http://maps.co.palm-beach.fl.us/ArcGIS/rest/services/ags1/MapServer

I did notice that by default your service layers were all turned off, and had to turn on specific layers (which worked just fine in Explorer Online).

I was able to add that specific sublayer successfully to the map viewer. So your workaround for now will be to use the map viewer to author your map with that particular sublayer, then take it across the finish line with Explorer Online.

I noticed that the specific sublayer of the map service you mentioned has Multipoint features, which I dont think is supported. The other layers which are Points added OK for me - e.g. I tried the bus stops layer.

Great find, that seems to be it.  Though I find it weird that Explorer will display a multipoint if I bring in the whole service like Bern did above, but if I try to bring in the specific multipoint sublayer or if I try a "Create Feature Layer" from the main service it won't work.  Actually now that I think of it, it isn't weird, a map service is an image, but doint the filtering is actually causing the client to bring in the actual geometry, and that's where it's failing. Basically Explorer can't render multipoints.

Do you know if that's by design or is that a bug that will be fixed.

Well it's by design in as much as we know it's not working! As far as I know, there's a number of places throughout the application that would need changing to support multipoints correctly and fully, so it's not not just a simple fix. Because it's not currently down to be addressed in a specific release, I would say that working around it by producing point layers where possible is probably worthwhile.

Thanks for that work around.  I had noticed that I could bring in the entire map service but just not the sublayer or filtering the entire map service to a sublayer, which I now know that multipoint features are the problem.

It does seems like a bug that I can bring in the sublayer into ArcGIS Online, save it, and then open in Explorer and then be able to filter as needed, but I can't start it directly in Explorer.  Do you know if:

1.  Will the "Filter" feature ever be available in ArcGIS Online, so that way I can just continue the whole work flow in Online?
2.  If this is a bug in Explorer that will be fixed?
3.  Should I start a support ticket for this bug

Just wanted to update that the services/features have been changed from Multipoint to just Point and all is well now.  Thanks for the help.
