We have users in situations (i.e. riding in bumpy vehicles) where they want the map to stay at a true north orientation and do not want to accidentally rotate the map when pinch zooming in and out in Explorer for ArcGIS.
I'm running into this issue for Dashboards which users want to interact with on a large touch screen. I didn't even know map rotation was a thing in the new map viewer until I got a request to have it disabled since it was disorienting to have it happen on accident.
Also crazy that while there is an orientation indicator on the map viewer I don't see any option for this control in the web map settings in the operations dashboard, either new or old. It's insane that a company devoted to geospatial data doesn't think being able to establish orientation is important for a map.
