Build 1200/900 will not work when you have ArcMAP 9.3 installed.  Installing 1200 caused 9.3 to not startup, and fixing 9.3 caused build 1200 not to work.  I have reinstalled build 900 and it crashes 9.3 too.  What gives, can't you have both on the same machine!!!!!!  Someone thorw me a bone here.  Did not have the image server, or other files running that is said needed to be disabled.

Ok, I uninstalled 1200, repaired Desktop, and reinstalled 900.  All is working now.  I would not install build 1200 if I you have desktop and you don't want to go through with the problems.  I hope ESRI gets there stuff together with the next release.  For now I'll stick with 900.

Don,

Knowing more about your system will help us determine the cause the problem you are seeing, and help us try to correct it for future releases.  Information regarding what extensions (ESRI or non-ESRI) you have installed would be particularly helpful.

Thank you,
Lindsay

I don't have any extensions on one of my machines the other does, both behaved the same with regard to Arc Desktop 9.3.  We just have Arc View on Desktop.  We use a license server in Helena, and we are a remote office.  Like I say, I removed 1200, repaired desktop and reinstalled 900.  Both are working now, but I did like some of the new functionality of 1200.  I hope 1500 will install without affecting desktop.  Don't know what other config settings you would need.

Another Bug with it is that it will not load a CSV file without crashing.  Build 900 does, build 1200 does not.  I may post a new thread about this one.

Hello.  I am experiencing the same problem with ArcGIS Explorer 1200 crashing after startup.  Running MS Windows XP Professional 2002 with SP3.  Display adapter is Intel Q965/Q963 Express Chipset Family.

I already have ArcGIS Desktop Evaluation Edition with all available extensions and SP2 on the same machine.

Really need help here.  I have never had problems with Explorer on other machines.  Thanks

Hello,

I have installed AGX 1200 on six machines, it works very good in 3 machines which have Windows XP 2002 SP3 32bits, but for all machines which have 64bits system it did not work, i the first i thought the problem is only with 64bit but after that we tried it with another 32bit machine it also crashes,
what is happening is the application open normally but when we try to open the .nmf file which contains layers and Tif image it bugs and gives a serious application error(attache image),
please let me know if you have any suggestions or solution for this problem,

Thanks

Noureddine,

Sorry to hear you're experiencing difficulties with ArcGIS Explorer. Do you always click "Send Error Report"? - if not please do as all the error reports are analysed and and are investigated if specific areas are causing repeated crashes.

A couple of things to try are:

1. Delete the Explorer layers cache: this can be done within the application via the advanced options dialog or alternatively open Windows Explorer and type %temp% into the address bar then look for a folder called "E3" - delete the contents of this folder.

2. Delete your default map in C:\Users\<USERNAME>\Documents\ArcGIS Explorer

3. If the above doesn't work try deleting your Explorer profile: Go to C:\Users\<USERNAME>\AppData\Roaming\esri\arcgis explorer and cut/paste the the contents elsewhere (to back it up) then open ArcGIS Explorer.

Ryan,

My first suggestion is to check your machine meets the minimum spec: http://cyri.systemrequirementslab.com/1186/10895 (NOTE: this URL changes with each release - use http://wikis.esri.com/wiki/display/agxpsr/ArcGIS+Explorer+System+Requirements to get the latest system requirements info).

Even if it does meet the spec - it is definitely worth checking whether there is a graphics driver update for your machine - if it's a laptop try the laptop vendor site otherwise try the graphics card vendor site.

Regards

Mike
