ArcGIS Explorer Registration Error

I'm running the ArcGIS Desktop 9.4 Beta, and also playing with the new ArcExplorer to train the rest of my office on use.  When trying to load the Bing Maps Aerial, I received the following registration error:

"Reader level functionality is not registered for use.  To register, click on Start>Programs>ArcGIS>desktop Administrator to start the Registration Wizard."

When I click "OK", ArcExplorer closes.

In the ArcGIS 9.4 administrator, Big Maps shows as installed but not registered.

Is this a problem with my installation of Desktop 9.4, or a problem with ArcExplorer?

Hi Liz,

This registration issue is a problem with the current ArcGIS Explorer.   It is planned to be fixed in the next release of ArcGIS Explorer, targeted for release in late December 2009/early Jan 2010.

Hi Kathleen,

What's the status on this one? I had the same problem on a machine where I did a fresh ArcGIS Explorer installation after installing 9.4 Beta 2. I have no problems on another machine that had ArcGIS Explorer already installed before installing beta 2.

regards,

Marc

Marc,

The next release of ArcGIS Explorer is scheduled for March 2010. The way Bing is authorized in Explorer will change in this release. You should not encounter this issue with ArcGIS Explorer 1200 and ArcGIS 94 Beta 2 / final release.

Cheers,
