Edit widget- in a hybrid environment -How to make it- less confusing to configure
Hi All ,
I am trying to recreate many of the Web AppBuilder applications- (as we all are) but my environment- is a mix of - Portal Content- Hosted Feature layers/ Feature layers content and Published Views - I also have editing groups- and the edit- function- seems to not- work- as intended /expected- and -- honestly--It is confusing-- smart forms that need to be configured- but - that means you have to disconnect the Feature layer from the other-(see image )
seems- so odd to me- why can't we have the ability to create the smart form in the map that has the Feature class -since they are stand-alone items-- " maps "- From what I have read the Map level configured Edit "smart Form ' is supposed to work as an override to the Feature class (that can have a standard template applied--)- (Think rock, paper ,scissors --)- The map template is supposed to cover the Feature Class template-- not replace it- so why do I need to disconnect the layer ? If I disconnect the layer- the changes to the main layer dont flow upwards and --if its a group layer-- which many of mine are--it is not an option ---so what am I to do with those ?

- Has anyone done this-- does the template "stay " as it is supposed to?"
- Why have this Edit Template function "locked " at the Feature layer- making it- that much harder to figure out- this already convoluted editing process- --you need the select widget & or a filter - to select attribute or feature // the batch editor (yes or no enabled)- /the smart form inside the map to make the edit template function? - and even then- you need to make sure you have set each of these items configured correctly-- Feature class or attribute editing settings, the form in the map- the setting in the selection widget to the map / and to the editor or just allow editing in the selection widget- and then - the selection tool-- seems to persist with the selection highlighted on the map- even after the selection is cleared - and then-- does not seem to want to select again or even edit or filter again .As soon as I think I have a widget figured out- it does not always behave the same way- with the different types of data in my organization. I have researched this and watched videos and looked in the blogs - but there does not seem to be -- a clear-cut path- of -- when you have a mix of data - do this to make the editing tool work as expected. Troubleshooting this- is hard- as I am unsure to the "where " of the needed or missing permissions - any help or detailed guidance is appreciated.
-- then add in- the people aspect- checking all the different permissions and testing for all the different possible setups- I need guidance that is-geared more towards the different types of data configurations that hybrid organizations have, instead of - just the standard setup.
