The Feature Info widget in Experience Builder:

  • Does not show the number of features clicked.
  • Pages through all features in the layer.
  • Does not even present the clicked features consecutively. It might page through three of the clicked features, jump to a feature in a different location, and then jump back.

Use case: Like many cities, we represent condos by having each parcel the size of the entire complex and stacking identical shapes one on top of the other. All the condos in a complex look like a single, large parcel. ArcMap, ArcGIS Pro, and Instant Apps all behave the same way when overlying parcels are clicked: you are shown the number of clicked parcels in a sidebar and can page through the records for the clicked parcels – and only the clicked parcels. Popups in ExB work that way too. Other use cases might be parallel sewer lines that are close to one another, or point features if the user is at a scale where they overlap.

  • Why not use popups? Users say that a popup covers part of the clicked feature, as well as adjacent features. A side panel displays more lines, making scanning through them much easier.
  • Why not use another tool? Every user knows how to point and click. The user does not have to use a different tool. The user does not have to learn how to use a different tool.
  • Why not use an Instant App? For the power of ExB.

The feedback I have gotten from Esri is that the tool works as designed, and I haven’t heard a rationale for the way it is designed. I believe the tool should work like the identify tool in other apps. This would be consistent, easy for the map maker, and easy for the map user, which should be one of our most important goals.

I would love to see some updates given to the Feature Info widget! My organization uses it in a similar manner.
