Reading about how Esri is trekking to the National Recreation and Parks Association (NRPA) 2025 Annual Conference, September 16–18 in Orlando, Florida, gave me this idea.  ESRI has assembled a team of  Parks and Recreation GIS subject matter experts for the upcoming 2 day conference.

I couldn't help thinking about how I had went to the National Parks Service HQ when I was on leave from Bosnia and Hercegovina to ask about how hiking trails were set up and maintained in US and State parks.   I was seeking materials that I might use in all of the former Yugoslavia states that I was involved with aimed at job and national park creation that might be useful for improving chances that post-conflict might lead to sustainable development.  I wish I would have been able to create an ARCGIS solution for improving parks and recreation opportunities back then.

But moving forward today, I am collaborating with local Kenya NGOS working on rural community development issues.   Sadly, I won't be able to attend the September conference in Florida, but have followed the online advice, and will hope to help develop yet another ARCGIS solution for Parks and Recreation, this one outside of the US in rural Kenya.
