Hello,

Do we have any option in ArcMAP Desktop 10.3 to restrict editing for users based on boundary limit. If they try to insert or copy a feature outside a boundary defined should return an error.

Thanks!

I haven't got any response yet... I would appreciate if someone can please help and let me know if such type of security features exist in ArcGIS Desktop 10.3 or later...

I am having Standard license, do Advance License have that feature ? or any other ESRI product like ArcGIS Server?

Thank you in advance!

Hitesh,

There are no features to restrict editing based on boundary.  Editing is all based on your users permissions on that feature class or feature dataset.  If they can edit the feature class, then it is all available for editing.

Here is a work around:

1. Select all features that are within your boundary for editing.

2. Export the selected features to a new feature class.

3. Disable editing on the original feature class.

4. Enable your users to edit the new feature class within the desired boundary geometries.

What you can do is setup a desktop or web map that includes the areas outside the boundary as a "read-only" or non-editable layer--for viewing purposes only.

Hope this helps!

Regards,

Alex
