Hey all,

I've failed at finding information in regards to hardware specifications and best practices of building a production environment. Currently we're upgrading from 9.2 - we run it across four servers. Two hold ArcGIS Server (1 and 2), and two hold SQL Server (3 and 4). 1 and 2 are a pair, 3 and 4 are a pair. The second set of servers (3 and 4) are primarily used for a backup if 9.2 hangs up, our application falls back to use the backups, they have no communication whatsoever with the other pair of servers.

We're open to suggestions if that isn't an ideal set up.

What I'll be hosting:

  • Tiled map of Canada

  • Multiple routing services

  • Feature Service (holds 20+ layers for querying)

We only have a hundred or so (peaking at 200) concurrent users. This plugs into our CMS so a majority of the work isn't done through a map display, but our own forms that goes off to my web service to do work.

Thanks

Thanks for the reply, I have read most of those links except the wiki.gis.com as it's very far over my head. What I'm asking to see are a published minimum requirements, and what those requirements were calculated for.

We're going to end up buying some, in my mind, beefy servers but I'm just looking to cover my bases in case anything ends up going wrong.

Thanks
