I have 2 GIS servers participating in a site with a web adaptor in front of them.  Site A is the primary site and hosts both the web adaptor as well as the config-store and server directories.  In this scenario if site A goes down will site B still be able to host clients?

If this is the case then is there any scenario to create a truly fault-tolerant ArcGIS server site, because the deployment scenarios all show the Data Store, Config-Store and server directories on a server, which it appears to suggest if that server is down then the entire site is down.

hi there,

did you reach to any solution to get ArcGIS Server 10.1 configured on failover environment ?

We don't have it fully deployed yet, but the plan is to have a web adaptor in front of each server, and our file geodatabase, config-store and server directories will be replicated using Windows DFS:

http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/jj127250.aspx

The DFS is setup with a UNC file path so that both servers think they are referencing the same target (which ArcGIS servers require if they are configured together as a site), when it is a actually a replicated share at separate locations.

Hi

I'm currently working on a project, and we planned to deploy exactly the same configuration: 2 ArcGIS Server in a ArcGIS Server Site,  with Windows DFS for sharing the Configuration Store and the Server Directories.

Have you finished your deployment? Is it possible for you to send any feedback regarding the DFS use?

Thank you in advance,

Jean-Charles
