Licenses for the parallel prod

I have a question about licensing a parallel prod environment. We are going to build it to do some upgrades for our existing Enterprise GIS in AWS. The approach is to build a parallel environment, switch, and then test. We've started to plan the transition with learning our licensing options. We have uncapped licenses for the Server, so it is not a problem. We are concerned about portal. Currently we have 45 Creators in total, 30 are being assigned, 500 Viewers (60 assigned), 50 ArcGIS Pro Advanced (6 assigned).

We are considering this approach: take 5 Creators, 60 Viewers, 6 ArcGIS Pro and create a licensing file for the parallel prod. Update current production.

Or should we take as much as we can from the available Creator licenses? Or it does not matter et all? If everything is okay after the switch, how can we assigned other necessary licenses?

Hi @yuta232, take a look at the below link:

For a multi-environment approach on Windows and Linux, use the same Portal for ArcGIS license file for each ArcGIS Enterprise environment.

thank you, I already have read the article. It is about prod an lower environments (testing or staging) not about 2 prod env running in parallel for a short time. My question is about licensing a new prod env that will run in parallel with the current one for a week, and then after all testings are done will be the only one

we already built a staging env allocating some of the licenses from current prod, so the total number is the same

You should still be good to use the same license file.  If the alias is changing, and you're licensing Pro through Enterprise, you'll need to update the license file for the new Prod instance via My Esri.
