Hello,

We have ArcGIS Server installed on machine with host name and IP. But now there is change required in IP for that machine. Is this IP change is going to have  any impact on ArcGIS Server functionality?

Thanks in advance

Hi Diana Vettori‌,

The ArcGIS Server component itself has no issues with the IP address changing. Provided you don't have any other ArcGIS Enterprise components referring to your ArcGIS Server by exclusively by its IP address, then there should be no issues.

So for example - if it's a standalone ArcGIS Server, then there should be no impact in changing your ArcGIS Server's IP address. Likewise, if the Server is federated with a Portal using the ArcGIS Server's hostname - there should be no impact to either Portal or Server if the Server IP changes.

If however, the ArcGIS Server was federated with the Portal using the ArcGIS Server's IP address instead of its hostname (which is a much less common configuration) then changing the IP address of the ArcGIS Server would likely lead to communication issues between the Server and Portal.

Hope that helps!

Regards,

James

Thank you James. Yes it clears doubt related to ArcGIS Server. And web adaptor we have and we will change that if it is configured using IP.

I am not sure this question should be put up here or not.

But just out of curiosity  asking . Please ignore if it is in wrong podium :

As Other components we have are ArcGIS Desktop License server  and that machine will also undergo change on IP.  License service will be impacted because of IP change?

Thanks Again

Diana:

If you are also planning on migrating your License Server, then Yes, you will want to transfer the licenses from the old machine to the new machine.

Here is an Esri document outlining that particular workflow:  Transferring licenses from one License Manager to another
