I am trying to install ArcGIS Server 10.5 on a server with Windows 2012. The installation runs through, as does the software authorization. When I head to http://localhost:6080/arcgis/manager and create a new site, I receive the following error message:

‘Failed to create site. The machine does not have a valid license. Please authorise using the Software Authorisation wizard for ArcGIS Server’

After reading previous discussions on this topic, I checked the keygen files and the licenses should be valid for the coming months. Also, I opened up all the ports mentioned in the ESRI helpfile. Finally, I tried to use 127.0.0.1 instead of localhost, to no avail.

Would anybody here have an idea. Thanks in advance.

That's what I suspected. The "101" licenses will support ArcGIS 10.1-10.4.1. For ArcGIS 10.5 and later, you would require license keys of ArcGIS Enterprise 10.5. Please contact with your My Esri site administrator, as suggested by jfpeagle-co-nz-esridist‌. If still you don't get appropriate licenses, please contact your local Esri representative.

Did you authorize the license of ArcGIS Enterprise 10.5? Please check with your local Esri rep. for the version/validity of the licenses?

Thanks for your reply. I authorized the license of ArcGIS Enterprise 10.5 with the software authorization wizard, and it runs through. They generated keys have the correct dates, however say '101' instead of '105'. I do not know whether this is of importance. As this is license provided by my university, I'll check with the internal IT support first.

Hello - since it says 101 - you definitely need a new license key

You should be able to get this from My.Esri.com > or talk to your IT people and they should be able to get you the right license files

Thanks - I installed ArcGIS server 10.4 for the time being, and am awaiting the reply of the IT guys. I told them about this issue with the license. Thanks again!
