Map Image not updating with Feature Layer

If I overwrite my map image and feature layer with new data, the map image does not update the symbology. I have not encountered anything like this before. My peers are just as confused as I am. I am unable to delete the map image either. Please advise.

Regarding not seeing new symbology, do you also not see the new symbology if you were to add it to a brand new map instead of an existing map?

And regarding not being able to delete it, have you verified that delete protection is disabled in the map service settings in Portal?

@RyanUthoff  If I bring it in a webmap, it takes the symbology; however, if I bring it in through the portal connection, it does not.

Hmm, I've seen cases where you have to remove and re-add the service to the map in order for the new symbology to be reflected, but I'm not sure what's going on in your case. Hopefully someone else will have some more insight into what's going on, because I don't think I've seen that before.

None of us have either, which is why it is so odd. We have had the perfect storm at my office today with technological issues. 😅
