When making cache tiles, allow several options for text anti-aliasing as there is in Photoshop (sharp, crisp, strong, smooth).
Today, ESRI using SHARP text anti-aliasing , so as you can see the example.
In some cases the CRISP look better and more readable (Google maps used also), so you should give the user the option what kind of text anti-aliasing is to use the display of text
