Definition query on catalog layer in Map Viewer

When using a catalog layer map service in Map Viewer, it is not possible to apply a definition query, for example to show only one raster (one footprint) (You cannot query the footprints layer or examine its datastructure). The setting of the definition query is possible in ArcGIS Pro before publishing the catolog layer as a map service. Furthermore, querying the catalog layer in the ArcGIS Server REST interface is possible and adding layer definitions is also possible using the Export Map operation in the REST interface. We would like that the functionality of applying a layer definition would be possible in a web map, preferably in Map Viewer.

Hi @esrisupportsiggis

Thanks for sharing your idea! In Map Viewer, you can use the Filter tool to display only the features that meet specific criteria. Applying a filter to the catalog layer will also carry through to the footprints layer and any layers in view. Hope this helps!

Hey @EmilyGeo ,

Thanks for your quick response. How was your catalog layer generated exactly? Ours was made in ArcGIS Pro and then published as map image layer/map service. Sadly, in this step a lot of the functionality seems to disappear and the Filter tool is not available to us in the Map Viewer.

Hi @SanderSmet

oh I see. My catalog layer was published as a feature layer. In that instance, more tools are available for working with the catalog layer.
