Why doesn't ArcGIS Earth display geometry from a KMZ exported by Rhino?

I'm exploring interoperability between Rhino and ArcGIS Earth.

I exported a simple 3D model from Rhino as a KMZ file, expecting to visualise it in ArcGIS Earth.

The KMZ file opens successfully in ArcGIS Earth, but the model geometry is not displayed. I confirmed that the same KMZ displays correctly in Google Earth, so the export itself appears to be valid.

As a workaround, I switched to a glTF-based workflow, which works well in ArcGIS Earth. However, I'm curious whether KMZ should also be supported.

Is this an expected limitation of ArcGIS Earth, or is there a recommended workflow or export setting in Rhino that allows KMZ geometry to be displayed correctly?

Has anyone experienced the same behaviour or found a solution?

Environment

  • Rhino: 8
  • ArcGIS Earth: 2.7.1.4720
  • KMZ exported directly from Rhino
  • Google Earth: Geometry displays correctly
  • ArcGIS Earth: KMZ opens, but geometry is not displayed

Thanks in advance!
