Data Reviewer Checks (ArcMap 10) do not complete on nationwide dataset

Run exactly as expected with a small extent on screen, but if I try the same check on a larger extent, the error message is: "Error running check: External component has thrown an exception." 

I tried to break the data into smaller pieces but this last instance, I've got 2712 features in one polygon layer, and 5105 in the other, running a table does not equal check, and then a topology boundary must cover check. 

Any ideas?  I'm hesitant to break a nationwide dataset into pieces smaller than this.  Any help appreciated.

Hello Clara,

Could you please clarify which checks you are using?  Table to Table Attribute & Geometry on Geometry or one of the Topology Checks?
