Updating a layer on a dashboard without losing dashboard settings

I have a dashboard that contains a layer that has point information which is geocoded and needs to be updated monthly. For now I just upload a new layer(it’s all in a web map). It’s basically the same data just updated With new additions and removals. It’s annoying to have to basically go to the old pie charts, list, boxes and replace the old with new since none of the settings are kept (for example have to redo filters, actions, charts, colors, etc.). Is there a way to replace the old layer without losing any of these settings? Or is there a better workflow for this? Thank you.

Consider truncating the layer and appending new records to it instead of publishing new layers. Then it's just the data updating, and the layer doesn't need swapping at all.

Of course, you could also use a tool like the AGO Assistant to edit the JSON of the dashoard, and you could re-point your layer URLs to the new service, while keeping all the other settings in place. https://ago-assistant.esri.com/
