"Cannot Access Data" on dashboard indicators

I'm trying to make a very simple dashboard. 

I have a selector that zooms my map to a certain project area. 

Then I have my map set to filter my indicators, charts, and etc. 

The problem is my indicators, gauges, and pie charts keep giving me an error that it cannot access data when I apply the filter from the map.

Any ideas how to get the indicators to filter data based on the map extent?

You can filter by extent by going into your map - settings - map actions and then toggle the appropriate filter on.

I ended up on a call with ESRI on this issue. I needed to be connected to a hosted feature layer and not a map image layer.
