I completely agree with the concerns already shared here.
This change has created a huge amount of unnecessary work for our team. We had dashboards that were carefully built, tested, and configured around the previous expand functionality. That workflow was simple, intuitive, and easy for our users and clients to understand.
One of the biggest frustrations for us is that our clients loved the ability to open and expand every element in the dashboard. It was not just a small feature — it was a major talking point across almost all of our dashboards. We regularly used that functionality to show clients how they could interact with the data, view different dashboard elements in more detail, and explore the information in a way that felt clean and professional.
Now, we are having to go back through every dashboard and manually turn on Focus Mode for every individual element just to try to recreate functionality that already existed and worked well. That is a massive waste of time and has created hours of unnecessary rework for our team.
Another major issue is that enabling Focus Mode forces a header to be applied to the widget. That completely disrupts the styling, spacing, and layout that was intentionally built into these elements beforehand. Many of our dashboards were carefully designed to use the available space efficiently and present information in a clean, polished way. Adding forced headers changes the look and feel of those elements and takes up valuable real estate that was already accounted for in the original design.
The most frustrating part is that dashboards with “Allow widget expansion” already enabled were not automatically transitioned in a way that preserved the user experience. Instead, teams like ours are left manually fixing dashboards one by one, costing time, wages, and creating avoidable frustration for our clients and internal users.
I understand that software evolves, but removing a core workflow without maintaining the same level of usability is incredibly disruptive. This feels like a change that made dashboards harder to use, harder to manage, and less polished for end users.
Please bring back the original expand button or provide an option to use it again. Focus Mode should not be the only replacement for a workflow that many organizations clearly relied on.
