It would be great if ArcGIS Dashboards supported parameterized SQL queries as data sources for dashboard elements such as charts, indicators, lists, and tables.
Instead of creating separate layers or datasets for every scenario, dashboard authors could define a SQL query with parameters (for example, Date, KPI, Vendor, or Region) and connect those parameters to dashboard selectors.
When a user changes a selector, the query would be re-executed and the dashboard element would automatically refresh with the updated results. This would also allow authors to dynamically change the chart structure, such as the displayed metrics, grouping, or aggregation, by changing the underlying query rather than creating multiple charts.
This would make dashboards much more dynamic, reduce the need to publish and maintain multiple datasets, and allow organizations to build flexible, database-driven dashboards that can easily adapt to changing business requirements.
