When hoovering over a dashboard element have the ability to have helper text describing detailed information about the indicator, graph, gauge, or any other element on the dashboard. Provide the simple HTML editor so the text can be formatted, and web links or other items can be included.
I would use it to describe the data elements used, it provenance, how it was derived and operations that have been performed on the element in detail.
