Configure dashboard hover-text

I have made an ArcGIS Dashboard with a bar chart that dispalys the sum of payment we have made grouped per year. The payments in my datalayer has the date-format YYYYMMDD. When I hover over the chart I only want to see the year+sum or only the sum. There are however no setting to configure the hovertext. It therefore shows the whole dateformat i.g "2023-01-01: 10 000". The dateformat in the hovertext gets confusing for the reader because the sum refers to the whole year and not only the 1:st of january. The label below the chart can be configured so it shows only the year (YYYY), and I would like a similar setting for the hovertext.

Agreed!  The hover text is sometimes very long or at least confusing to the user.  I believe the way to fix the hover text would be to go all the way back to the schema of they layer and change the field name and/or format.  It would be great to be able to change the hover text within dashboards.

Yes, that could be a solution. But in my case I use the same data in several different funktions in the same dashboard. For example I also have filters where you can show the sum per month. It would therefore be nice to be able to configure the hovertext rather than change the format of the field.

I agree. It is odd that one can configure the category axis labels in a serial chart, but not the actual hover-text. Also odd that the axis labels don't just carry through to the hover-text. The result is a mismatch that could confuse viewers. I've tried several workarounds, with no success.

Agreed. Configuring hover text needs to be an option. My team and I are developing a dashboard for one of our departments conducting asset inspections and the hover text shows the messy name we have stored in the data rather than a better alias for the end users to see.

I'm running into a similar issue. I have a dashboard table with hover text enabled. The table fields are text or text with coded domains. For all of the fields the hover text just displays "undefined".

Agreed, adding a little customizability to the hover text would go a long way to making charts simpler to understand. In a perfect world I'd like to see Arcade expressions added as an option here, but even adding the option to select an additional field to display would be a large improvement for those that have multiple values to chart like "Depth" in my case:
