I have recently began rolling out collector to our 5 field offices to collect timber sale, forest management, and wildfire data, and have been running into several issues that I'd like to see addressed in future versions of the App. I'd like to see if any of you have things to add, hopefully we can help guide future development to meet our needs.
I'm sure you folks have other suggestions, so lets here some!!
Hey Josh,
for #3 in your list could you contact support about the issue and feed them this information on the sync issues you are seeing and if possible give a sample dataset that is failing.
#4 We are working on a tool that will allow you to move your data off of the device into a fgdb
#5 We are also working on getting editor tracking into a release in the fall.
Thanks for this info.
Russ
Great, I'll do that. Thanks for the quick reply.
#2 you can do streaming and collect in the background on iOS.
Include an option to not automatically capture location by GPS. We need users to just use the GPS as a guide but mark the point themselves on the map.
You can collect without using the GPS with this documented workflow which you use Collect Here: Add a feature—Collector for ArcGIS | ArcGIS
Also you can always tap on the map to move a feature during the data collection process and it is not locked to your current GPS position.

Thanks, didn't know about that one. Still it would be much better (for us anyway) to be able to disable the autolocation so the user is forced to place a point on the map, otherwise there is no way we can know if they are just accepting the GPS location which is generally too inaccurate. Yes the user could just re-enable the option but our users are generally not computer savvy so dont go fiddling with any options.
If you haven't done so already, you should add these suggestions to ideas.arcgis.com. It's a great place to get your suggestions seen by the developers.
