I think ESRI should include Augmented Reality tools and functionality in the libraries it provides, like ArcObject and those related to Mobile, specially this last one.

It´s already implemented in QUARTZ SDK - Display scenes in augmented reality—ArcGIS Runtime SDK for Android | ArcGIS for Developers.

Also you can use AppStuido, with AuGeo template.
