ArcGIS Bathymetry for ArcGIS Pro at 3.2 has been enhanced substantially from its launch at 3.1. Among those enhancements are two new tools used for filtering and sorting bathymetric data that you can find on the new Bathymetry tab of the ribbon in ArcGIS Pro. When you have data in a Bathymetric Information System (BIS) selected on a map, the Bathymetry tab and its tools are now available. These two tools work together to provide nuanced visualizations of bathymetric data, allowing you to prioritize what data is displayed and how.

To support these tools, the BIS schema has been expanded to include a Bathymetric Data Index mosaic dataset that includes all raster data, and the BisDetails table that stores unique BIS identification information.

Create a BIS in ArcGIS Pro 3.2

The Explore Bathymetry tool allows you to filter bathymetric data to find specific subsets of data that you want to review and analyze. You can build multiple filters, filter multiple datasets, and save those filters to be applied to other datasets in your BIS.

The Compose Surface tool can be used to sort data that you’ve filtered with the Explore Bathymetry tool. You can build rules, set the order of their application, and save the sorted ruleset to use on other data in your BIS. The Compose Surface tool also allows you to save a model that contains both the sorted rules and the specific filtered dataset they are being applied to.

In addition to the new tools on the Bathymetry tab, there is a new tool in the Bathymetry toolbox. The Add Point Cloud To BIS tool allows you to register point cloud data (LAS and LASD) to your BIS.  This tool is found in the BIS Management toolset of the 3.2 Bathymetry toolbox.
