Silverlight Application won't display FeatureService Rendering Stored In ArcMap

When I load the service into ArcGIS.com Map it renders my picture marker symbols correctly and has the template available for web editing. When I load the service into my application it alway renders with a red simple marker symbol and the template picker widget is empty. What am I doing wrong. The editing samples don't include any mark up for the symbol so my code does not include properties specifying a symbol.

Please, in your browser, send a request to the Feature layer rest end point (e.g. http://services.arcgisonline.com/ArcGIS/rest/services/Demographics/ESRI_MedianIncome_US_2D/MapServer...) and share the result.

This might give a clue in your issue.
