Select point who are into polygon

Hi to all,
i'm new on this ... i would like to do this operations:

1) select a polygon with mouse
2) select points or other smaller polygon who are included in the initial polygon selected
3) extract information from this point or smaller polygon included

thank's for any suggestion for the ways to do that.
