With the ADFs going down the road for support of Relates/Relationship Classes, with the APIs be following suit?

The real question is: Will the REST endpoints follow suit, so you should probably ask this in the REST forums.
If REST doesn't support it, the API's won't. Similar is it does, the API's will follow suit.
