Auto populate attribute field with Current month and year ex. May 2001

I have a date picker that the user uses to input current date. The date picker returns a value similar to 1/23/2001 00:00:00. Is it possible to auto populate another field based on the value of the date picker field that would return of value of "January 2001". Is this something that needs to be setup in the editor template in arcmap? Or can it be done with programing using c#.

Any ideas will be greatly appreciated.
