dear Readers,
good morning. our team was studying the use of web mercator for general purpose sketching and notation (not digitizing) and was trying to ascertain its usability and accuracies. the objective of the study was to provide guidelines to the field staff members across the nation.
One of the main requests they had was:
1. In ArcMap, the user could zoom as close as possible and begin sketching - if they had to move a few (hundred) yards outside the current extent:
they could navigate without loosing the sketch/edit and
they could zoom to different extent with loosing the sketch/edit.
in the silverlight API (and examples), there seems to be a push to use either navigation tools or edit tools - not simultaneously like ArcMap. is there is reason for not having edit and navigation usable simultaneously?
any insight would be greatly useful.
