I was using ArcGIS Viewer for Silverlight...added sde layer...looked good...added a geocode tool then tried to test the tool and the Viewer crashed. Could not get the viewer to start after that so I uninstalled Silverlight API...reinstalled and reinstalled the viewer but the viewer install gives me this error:

"ArcGIS Viewer for Microsoft Silverlight 1.0 Setup Wizard ended prematurely because of an error. Your system has not been modified. To install this program at a later time, run Setup Wizard again. Click to Finish button to exit the Setup Wizard."

So what are the suggestions on how I can get the Viewer to reinstall and become part of the ArcGIS subprogram group after the install. I am on XP x86 OS.

Hi Michael,

The error message you're getting was identified as a bug in the ArcGIS Viewer for Silverlight beta 2 setup. A workaround to address this issue was posted on the Esri Beta Community forums:

ArcGIS Viewer for Silverlight Beta forums - Unable to install
(a login is required to access content)

In future, please post comments and questions related to the Silverlight Viewer beta 2 on the Esri Beta Community, as this is where the Dev team is monitoring user feedback.

Hope this helps,

I just tried the work around on the Beta Community forum, but it did not work exactly right.   I was able to get the viewer to launch, but got this error:

"HTTP Error 500.19 - Internal Server Error
The requested page cannot be accessed because the related configuration data for the page is invalid."

"Config Error This configuration section cannot be used at this path. This happens when the section is locked at a parent level. Locking is either by default (overrideModeDefault="Deny"), or set explicitly by a location tag with overrideMode="Deny" or the legacy allowOverride="false".  "

I am running Windows 7, 64 bit SP1
