Hi,

I'm developing an iPhone app using the ArcGIS API for Flex. Everything is working fine except the zooming.
If I'm using two fingers to zoom, the map pans first and zooms then. The map should not pan in this case. The zoom behavior is also not what the user is expecting. The map zooms only to the levels of the layers and not smoothly 'between' the layers.

Is there any why to enable a zoom behavior like in the native iOS ArgGIS API?
If not, is it planed for future releases of the Flex API?

Regards,
Bernd

Yes. The behavior you are looking for is part of the next(2.4) version of the api.

When will be version 2.4 released?
Is it possible to get an beta snapshot of it somewhere?

*Waiting with fevered anticipation to a response to Bernd's question(s)*

We are in the waning moments of a requirements gathering session in which I see Flex/AIR falling by the wayside unless we can prove that it's a viable option.  The pinch to zoom problems plus slightly sluggish performance seems to be the biggest complaints of testers.

If only we could test with a 2.4 beta release... or get a *ehem* nod on the release date...

The release data for 2.4 is still "July" as announced at the Esri User Conference and also listed at http://help.arcgis.com/en/webapps/flexviewer/help/index.html#/FAQ/01m300000004000000/ 🙂

I tested the new ArcGIS for Flex 2.4. The zooming behavior is now working as expected 😄 Only the performance is still not the best (if you compare it to native application). But I think this is a Flex issue itself. Hopefully AIR 3.0 will be faster.

the pinch zoom is much better, I have two android phones and the air app runs much faster on the newer phone (HTC thunderbolt) than the Galaxy S phone.
