Yes, it can run into the same limits, but the behavior depends on the mode. In snapshot mode only one request is sent so if the response has been limited, this is all the features that it will have loaded. In onDemand mode, it sends another request on each extent change, so if if the first request was limited, it will get more features on the next request.
