How to Dynamically Retrieve attribute names of a mapservice layer

Unlike regular webserices, which prsent their data in xml, the presentation format of a webserivce is different.  If I want to retrieve the attribute values of a mapservice dynamically, how can it be done?  Thanks if you can share your experience.

Solved by creating a QueryTask.
