Hi Guys,
Totally new to FLEX and loving it, since I'm not a programmer I'm working through the FLEX samples and applying my services to them. Great response and fairly self explanatory.... but I need guidance on some simple things which I'm sure are there in Black and White in the concepts and api reference but just a point in the right direction would be great.
I'm editing and I add a value to one of the fields from the attribute inspector - REPORTID, I want to validate the content of this field and report wether it already has an occurence in the featureclass (which could be valid) and report this as yes exists already or this is new before I commit the data. Any samples out there to show me how to approach this please - note the novice elements in the questions!

I'm on the public beta 2 with flex builder 4 on arcgis10 prerelease, windows 2003, IIS and Oracle.....
